Costco Auburn – Large-Scale Fire Protection for a High-Traffic Retail Warehouse

Project Overview

Adept Fire was selected to provide wet and dry fire protection systems for Iglus Mascot, a modern student accommodation complex in Sydney. Featuring state-of-the-art facilities designed for student living, this project required a comprehensive and reliable fire safety solution to ensure the safety of residents and compliance with all necessary regulations.

The Challenge

Costco Auburn operates in a busy, high-volume retail environment, meaning our team had to work around ongoing operations while installing and maintaining fire safety systems. Additionally, the sheer size of the warehouse, combined with the need to protect large stockpiles of goods, required a strategic approach to fire suppression and detection.

Our Solution

Wet Fire Systems – We installed an extensive sprinkler system, fire hydrants, hose reels, fire pumps and tanks to provide maximum fire suppression coverage across the warehouse and storage areas.
Dry Fire Systems – Our team designed and installed fire detection, alarm systems, emergency lighting, and an evacuation system to ensure a swift response in an emergency.
Working in a Live Environment – To avoid disrupting operations, we implemented a staged installation plan, working closely with Costco’s team to complete fire system upgrades outside peak trading hours and in non-intrusive phases.

The Result

Adept Fire successfully delivered a fully integrated fire protection system for Costco Auburn, ensuring compliance with all relevant Australian fire safety standards while maintaining the safety of customers, staff, and valuable stock.
